That's so gay! lawlz

This issue has probably been addressed in this forum endlessly, but there's quite an interesting conversation going on in gaymers about whether or not it is okay to say something is 'gay' when you really mean 'stupid,' 'ugly,' 'idiotic,' 'abnormal,' etc. Check it out if you're interesting, but remember, most of us over there are not intellectual theorists, so be gentle. ;-)

In case you're curious, I am on the "No" side. :-)

Help a Queer Bear Couple Win a Contest for Housewives! :D

What's up everyone? My name is Aaron, and my partner and I are trying to rally up the support of our queer friends from across the globe.

We're finalists in this admittedly totally cheesy online contest that's tied in to a cornball romance novel, and we only have a few days left to get as many votes as possible in order to win. If we DO get the most votes by midnight on the 12th, we will win a $2000 spa vacation.

Being HIV+, we don't oft. have the money laying around to take a vacation HALF this good, so we could REALLY use it! We also think it would be kind of funny for two big hairy bears to win a contest that was so obviously designed for mid-western housewives.

It costs nothing to vote, and you don't have to sign up for any stupid mailing list - and it takes two seconds! So if you have it in your heart to help out some of your hairy brothers, just go to this URL:

http://karenquinn.net/wife-in-the-fast-lane-contest/2007/02/09/one-liner-from-jaybeebrad/

That should take you directly to our entry, "Twisted Sister". Just click the "Vote For This Entry" button, and you're done!

If you're sitting there wondering "What's in it for me"...well, I wish I could say something concrete, but how about just the notion that you did a tiny gesture towards helping your bear brothers have a little bit of an easier time in life, for just a short while? :)

Big woofs and thanks a ton!

Aaron

some (late) quotes for international women's day:

"Women work two-thirds of the world's working hours, and produce half the worlds food, yet earn only 10% of the world's income, and own less than 1% of the world's property."

"An incident of domestic violence takes place in the UK every 6 to 20 seconds, and every week 2 women are killed in domestic violence situations"

"Between 600,000 and 800,000 people are trafficked across international borders every year. Around 80% of all victims of trafficing are women"
