What do you all think about scientific research trying to figure out if/how homosexuality is genetic? Is it good or bad and why?

My personal thoughts on this: I am curious as to why I'm gay, yes, because the physical component of how are personalities and behaviors are formed is really interesting to me. I think that for some people, if we figured out what caused homosexuality genetically, it would convince them to lay off the homophobia. I think some researchers genuinely want to prove it in the hopes that it will make gay people more accepted.

On the other hand, I'm not sure it's a good idea because some people might use it to "cure" homosexuality, and it could be used against the gay community in that way, and I think that it would make some people think that homosexuality was a disease. Some reasearchers are probably trying to prove that it's genetic so that they can call it a disease.

In other words, I'm totally undecided and can see both sides. What do you all think?
