NoFear, genderqueer

(no subject)

I have a request. I am participating in a debate about gay marriage in my Sexualities class, and I was wondering if you people had any suggestions. I am on the side of Civil Unions. That means, we'll be talking about civil unions as an alternative to marriage for gays/lesbians, but also as an alternative to the term "marriage" altogether in the legal system. As in, everyone (gay, straight, whatever) could get a civil union license, and have all the same benefits for everyone, and then choose to get "married" in a church if they so chose.

My question to you all is what do you think? I would like suggestions of any place that would have good information about the subject, but I also want to get a personal perspective from you all. What are the benefits of civil unions? What are the downsides? Whatever side of the issue you happen to fall on, it doesn't matter. I just want to get some peoples opinions on the subject. Whatever you have to offer would be much appreciated, so long as it has to do with the issue of civil unions. Thanks a whole bunch.

I'm cross-posting this, so sorry if you get this multiple times.
