freedom to marry

birthday solicitation

This is the email that I sent to my family and friends. Since I don't have your email addresses, I am leaving this here for you :)

Hi,

I am turning 28 on March 14! What do I want for my birthday you ask? Well, you didn't but don't worry I won't ask for anything extravegant. I want equality. I want the right to love my partner and live in peace. I don't want to be discriminated against. If you love me, hopefully you want the same for me.

So I am going to ask you for a favor. Go here.

Simply fill out the form to tell lawmakers that you don't want discrimination written into the constitution. If you feel especially generous, donate $$$ to the cause :)

Then please send this as well. It is for same-sex immigration and this is actually what Sze and I need to pass in order for us to be able to remain together in the U.S.

If you still have love to give, consider writing something here about why you think marriage equality is important. These are personal messages from parents, relatives, and friends of gay and lesbian people.

If you have any questions about the issue of marriage equality, please ask me! I will not be offended if you are uncertain and have concerns about any of the above. Let's talk about it.

Anyway, thank you for your time. I really appreciate your love and friendship.

Nadine

p.s. if you've already sent these emails before, bless you! it's okay to do it again and again, so please do send one today for me :)

Woo, I got both my parents and my sister to write letters for me! It's all about marketing the idea to people. Who can resist a kid on her birthday? Hopefully not you. *Bats eyes* :)

Cool commercial

www.logcabin.org

The Log Cabin Republicans have made this great commercial (which has already started running in some areas) against the proposed consitutional amendment to ban gay marriage.  It features vice president Cheney making comments about gay marriage (back in about 2000, I'd say), and now he's changed his tune in support of the President.  Go check it out on their website. =P
